Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology

School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences
The School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences studies the biology and psychology of thought and language, development and aging, social interaction and perception in adults and children. The school’s academic and research programs aim to enhance health, education and quality of life for families and their communities. This mission is advanced through fundamental investigations and applied research into the brain and behavior, including the use of advanced technology.
School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences
The School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences is a national leader in the social science disciplines with an emerging focus in tech policy. Programs in the school address critical social, political and economic issues while creating innovative policy solutions. The school’s mission is advanced through interdisciplinary, data driven and policy-relevant research and through collaborations with federal, state and nonprofit research institutions.
Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science
The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science is one of the fastest-growing, most vigorous engineering and computer science schools in the United States. Since 2008, the Jonsson School has doubled in size with the creation of four new departments. The school is home to rapidly expanding research and educational programs in biomedical engineering and health technology, mechanical engineering, energy (including wind and solar energy), materials science, analog electronics, cybersecurity and human-computer, robotic and control systems.

Ackerman Center for Holocaust Studies
The Ackerman Center is an internationally renowned institution that offers a multi-disciplinary view of the Holocaust, genocide and human rights studies. The center’s dedicated faculty provides an educational, engaging and transformative experience for a diverse student body who carry the center’s mission — to change the future by teaching the past — with them as educators, professionals and leaders in America and around the world. The center’s thriving academic program is complemented by substantial public outreach that includes free events such as teachers’ workshops, film screenings and lectures from distinguished scholars.
Callier Center for Communication Disorders
The Callier Center is internationally recognized for improving the lives of people suffering from communication disorders. Founded more than half a century ago, the center researches and treats communication disorders while training the next generations of audiologists and speech-language pathologists. Each year, the center treats over 4,000 children and adults, providing over 40,000 clinical services, including evaluation and treatment.
Center for BrainHealth
The Center for BrainHealth is a scientific research institute committed to understanding, protecting and healing the brain. Leading-edge, innovative scientific exploration at BrainHealth improves lives today and translates groundbreaking discoveries into practical clinical application. Cognitive neuroscience experts at the center are dedicated to discovering ways to build resilience, regain cognitive function and maximize the potential of the brain.
Center for Children and Families
The Center for Children and Families promotes optimal family and child development through research, practice and outreach. The center’s programs are focused around three key initiatives: parenting healthy children and families, strengthening interpersonal relationships, and enhancing thinking and learning.
Center for Vital Longevity
Founded in 2010, the Center for Vital Longevity is dedicated to studying the aging mind and determining new ways to maintain cognitive health. Employing a range of brain-imaging techniques, center scientists are making great progress in understanding memory, cognitive aging and risk factors for Alzheimer’s.
Edith O’Donnell Institute of Art History
The Edith O’Donnell Institute of Art History is home to innovative research and graduate education in the history of art. As the first art history research institute created in the digital age, the center explores the intersection between visual arts and science and technology and attracts attract a growing community of art historians, curators and practicing artists in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Texas Analog Center of Excellence
Dedicated to help create leading-edge analog technology for both traditional electronics and emerging applications, the Texas Analog Center for Excellence (TxACE) is specifically focused on improving energy efficiency, health care and public safety and security. TxACE has now become one of the largest University-based analog centers in the world.
Texas Biomedical Device Center
The Texas Biomedical Device Center is a collaborative effort engaging researchers from multiple disciplines working toward a common goal: creating new biomedical technology and therapies. Together, these researchers ensure that recent and future technological advances make it from the research laboratory into the clinic and ultimately to patients.
